An award ceremony was held on November 23, 2022, at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province, during the 48th National Quality Management Convention, hosted by the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Standards Association. A total of 39 companies were recognized as Excellent Quality Competitiveness Companies.
The “Excellent Quality Competitiveness Company” designation is awarded annually to companies that achieve outstanding business performance through robust quality management systems, strong technological capabilities, and continuous quality improvement.
The program focuses on identifying companies with comprehensive competitiveness in areas such as quality innovation and customer satisfaction, while encouraging and supporting corporate quality management initiatives.
Originating from the “Top 100 Quality Management Companies” program launched in 1994, the initiative evolved into the “Top 100 Quality Competitiveness Companies” in 1997 and marked its 29th year this year.
The evaluation process requires companies to conduct an online self-assessment through the Quality Competitiveness Assessment System (QCAS). A panel of approximately 50 quality experts then carries out on-site evaluations across around 13 criteria, including strategy and management systems, talent development, quality systems, product development and technological capability, and customer satisfaction. Based on the comprehensive assessment, only companies verified to achieve Grade 1 or Grade 2 out of nine grades (900 points or higher out of 1,000) are finally selected.
Among the 39 companies selected this year, the industry breakdown included four in metals, six in machinery, nine in electrical and electronics, six in chemicals, two in other industries, and twelve public institutions. By company size, three were large corporations, sixteen mid-sized enterprises, eight small and medium-sized enterprises, and twelve public enterprises, with particularly strong participation from mid-sized companies.
This year, Seoyon E-Hwa, PyungHwa Oil Seal Industry, and Korea Gas Technology Corporation underwent rigorous on-site evaluations and were officially inducted into the Hall of Fame, reaffirming their exceptional level of quality competitiveness.
